UKRAINE - KHARKIV
Kharkiv is Ukraine's second-largest city and is situated in the northeast of the country. The population in the city center is 1.460.000 and the general population is approximately 1.7 million.
Kharkiv is one of the fundamental industrial, educational and cultural centers of Ukraine. Its industry is mainly on military products and machine industry. There are hundreds of industrial companies in Kharkiv. The most popular place in the city is Freedom Square (Ploşça Svobodi), which is the third-largest city square in Europe and the seventh-largest city square in the world. Kharkiv is rich in its cultural traditions.
Many joint projects have been carried out between the cities of Gaziantep and Kharkiv. Since the existing relations between Gaziantep University and Karazin University are active, an official protocol was signed and various experiences were shared between the two universities.
Gaziantep and Kharkiv Municipalities entered into the Sister City Agreement on April 15, 2011.
KHARKIV - GAZIANTEP RELATIONS
The “Gypsy Girl” Mosaic Replica was gifted to the city of Kharkiv in commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the 'Sister City' relationship. Gypsy Girl Mosaic Replica from Gaziantep was presented to the visitors in the Schevchenko park, which is the biggest park of Kharkiv.
Gaziantep was introduced with its culture, history, handicrafts, and gastronomy and attracted great interest from the people of Ukraine. The two cities have mutually shared their experience in areas including local government issues.
