LEBANESE REPUBLIC - TRIPOLI
Tripoli, the center of Lebanon's Shimal province, is the second largest city in the country. The population of this city is 500,000. Approximately 80 percent of the population is Muslim, while Christians and Nusayris also live in this city.
Palm Island or Rabbit Island, which are among the islands owned by Lebanon, have been declared as World Heritage by UNESCO. Green turtles and rare birds live on this island.
Tripoli, which is a port city of Lebanon today and located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, has a great importance in terms of trade thanks to its ports.
Sister City Protocol Signing Ceremony was held between Gaziantep and Tripoli Municipalities on 31 March 2012.

Mutual experience sharing has been conducted between the two cities in many different fields. Experience sharing activities have been realized especially in the field of Historical Cultural Heritage and restoration works.
The cities, which have come together many times in a cultural sense, have played a significant role in cultural activities, and have supported organizations and activities held in both countries.
