STATE OF KUWAIT - KUWAIT
The city of Kuwait is the capital of the state of Kuwait and also bears the name of the country.
The name of the city is derived from the Arabic word akwat, which means "fortress on the water". Its population is about 100,000, and together with the metropolitan area surrounding the city, the population reaches about 2,800,000. Located on the coast of the Persian Gulf, the city is both the geographical and political center of the country.
The vast majority of Kuwaitis are Muslims. But there are also Hindus and Christians. The constitution guarantees absolute freedom of belief.
The country ranks fifth in the world in terms of oil reserves. Oil accounts for 95% of exports, and the country generates about 80% of its revenue from oil.
The Gaziantep and Kuwait Municipalities signed the Sister Cities Protocol on April 09, 2007.
GAZIANTEP - KUWAIT RELATIONS
As part of the Sister City Protocol signed between Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and Kuwait Municipality, Batalhöyük Street was named Kuwait Boulevard.
Various studies have been conducted between the two cities in the areas of gastronomy, health and social services.
